What This Site Does Not Do
It does not inspect, price, repair or replace anything. It does not employ roofers. It does not deal with your insurer in any way. It does not hand your request to a list of companies that all call at once.
It also does not claim more than it knows. Where a page says a date, an office or a hail size, the source is named. Where we could not confirm something, the page says so and names who can.
Checking a Contractor When the State Does Not
Texas has no license for roofers or siding installers. A number printed on a truck or a yard sign is not a state license, whatever it looks like. RCAT, the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, offers a voluntary credential; it is worth something, and it is still not a license.
What you can check:
- A certificate of liability insurance, and whether they carry workers’ comp for the crew.
- A physical address in or near Tomball, not just a phone number.
- Whether the shingle or panel maker has certified them to offer its longer warranty.
- The workmanship warranty, in writing, with the number of years stated.
- For a job inside city limits, whether they will pull the city permit. The city’s form asks for their insurance certificate, naming the City of Tomball as certificate holder.
